The "Jerry" Project

Jerry is a project to create a completely vision-based personal robot capable of performing basic tasks in a domestic or business environment.

Jerry will utilize multiple off the shelf webcams to perform every sensing function needed in a robot. These will range from navigation and localization to manipulator tracking and facial recognition.
Jerry will be built to a scale that allows him to interact with a typical human environment, the home, business, etc. He will be an open source platform which will allow for application development, AI growth, and mechanical improvements. Beyond that Jerry will be as basic a platform as possible so that the cost to create him will not be beyond $2000.

The goal is to create a robot with the capabilities and price range to become a viable personal robot in any and every home or business.
